Aston Villa set aside new signings funds as sensation to agree deal – O’Rourke

Aston Villa have set funds aside for Unai Emery to use on extending contracts and making new signings, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Villa hierarchy “want to be playing with Europe’s elite every season” moving forward.

Villa qualified for the Champions League last season and are now keen to achieve that consistently moving forward, with the club’s forward planning being ambitious.

Football Insider revealed that 2024 sensation Morgan Rogers is set to be handed a “huge” pay rise” after a stellar start to the season as the club aims to reward him while also locking down his future at Villa Park.

Well-placed sources have revealed to Football Insider that the 22-year-old has surprised many people and established himself as an integral part of Emery’s side, which is why he’s now set to be paid a similar amount to other first-team players.

There is some caution about whether Villa should be handing out big contracts as the club have not experienced Champions League football regularly before, but that is the aim moving forward.

Aston Villa are set to back Unai Emery financially

Emery is seen as a “very ambitious manager” and someone who will demand to be backed by the football club, and that’s what Villa intends to do.

Funds are expected to be made available for him to extend contracts of key first-team players to secure their futures at the football club.

However, Emery is also set to be backed in the transfer market as the Premier League side looks to add further strength to the squad.

Villa currently sit sixth in the Premier League table following the opening 10 games, having won five, drawn three, and lost two.

Emery’s side will face Liverpool on Saturday (9 November) in their latest fixture after four games without a win in all competitions.
