Aston Villa set to land £40m+ windfall – Stefan Borson

Aston Villa are on track to generate £400million in revenue by 2027 with a £40million payout due next season from their Champions League campaign.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Villa likely added £50million to their revenue in 2023-24 in line with Chris Heck’s financial masterplan.

Heck – Villa’s president of business operations – told The Telegraph that the club is aiming to generate £400million in revenue by 2027.

The Birmingham outfit generated £217million in revenue as per their latest 2022-23 accounts which was a significant jump from the £178million generated in 2021-22.

Unai Emery’s side reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League last season while also upsetting the odds to finish fourth in the Premier League to reach the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Borson believes Villa are now on track to add £100million to their revenue over the next two accounting periods.

Aston Villa revenue set to soar £100m over two seasons

The way Chris Heck explained it was that they want £50million per year of incremental revenue,” Borson told Football Insider.

I think they’ve done okay on that so far and they have probably added an extra £50million last season.

“So they’re probably on track this year to be about £255m in revenue after generating £217million last year – they’re on track to add £40-£50million.

A good Conference League run doesn’t make huge amounts, but it has probably added around £15million while their improved league position will add to that.

Then obviously next season they will generate a minimum of £40million from the new Champions League format, even if they don’t get out of the group stage.

So you can also see how they will stay on track next season too.
