Aston Villa star tipped to follow Wesley out on loan after reveal – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Frederic Guilbert could follow Wesley and leave Aston Villa on loan before the end of the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed the arrivals of Axel Tuanzebe and Ashley Young could see Guilbert depart on a temporary deal.

The right-back made his first appearance of the season and grabbed a goal in Tuesday’s (24 August) 6-0 thrashing of Barrow in the Carabao Cup.

Striker Wesley was conspicuous by his absence as academy graduate Cameron Archer scored a hat-trick on his full debut.

The Athletic’s Gregg Evans reported after the game the Brazilian is heading back to Club Brugge on loan.

He moved to Villa Park from the Belgian side for a then club-record £22million fee in 2019.

Asked whether any other players could leave before the end of the month, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Dean Smith will want to keep a big squad of players.

“With Conor Hourihane, if you look at the midfield, there’s no reason why he cannot break into the team. He’s got the quality and done it in the Premier League before. Everyone knows how good Conor is.

“Maybe Guilbert might be one that goes out. You do have Tuanzebe as cover for Matty Cash and Ashley Young can play there.

“But apart from that, I don’t see any other players leaving.”

Guilbert spent the second half of last season on loan to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

The Frenchman, 26, scored once and provided four assists in 14 games across all competitions for Strasbourg.
