Aston Villa submit Kalvin Phillips offer amid Everton update – sources

Aston Villa have submitted a loan offer for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is pushing for a move away from the Premier League champions with Everton also interested in signing the midfielder.

Football Insider revealed (July 27) that Phillips is looking to leave the Etihad permanently this summer after failing to impress under Pep Guardiola.

Man City are looking to get rid of Phillips permanently but would be willing to accept a loan offer if they have to.

Villa are in the market for another central midfielder after securing the £50 million signing of Amadou Onana from Everton earlier in the summer.

Aston Villa face competition from Everton for Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips

Since joining Man City from Leeds United in 2022 for £45 million Phillips has barely featured for the champions making 31 appearances – 14 of which were as a starter.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, where he endured a disastrous spell marked by several poor performances before being dropped from the team.

Phillips missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad due to those poor performances despite playing a vital role for his country previously.

Both Man City and Phillips believe a permanent move would be best with the champions willing to let the midfielder leave at a huge loss.

Football Insider revealed (July 21) Man City will accept offers of £20 million to let Kalvin Phillips leave for good this summer.
