Aston Villa submitting new Loic Bade offer after Emery green light – sources

Aston Villa are set to submit a second bid for Sevilla defender Loic Bade in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Villa have already had an offer “turned down” by the Spanish outfit.

Villa have made Bade their number one target over Fikayo Tomori this month as Unai Emery wants to bolster his defensive options after allowing Diego Carlos to leave the club to join Fenerbahce.

Well-placed sources have informed Football Insider that the Premier League side are expected to go back to Sevilla with another offer to get a deal done for the Frenchman.

Sevilla are open to selling the 24-year-old this month as they have some financial issues of their own that this transfer would aid.

The Villa owners have financially backed Emery during his time at the club, therefore if the right player is there then money will be made available.

Loic Bade could strengthen Aston Villa

Bade has made 17 appearances for Sevilla this season and has only missed four La Liga games, with three of those being through injury.

The central defender is under contract until 2029 which puts his current club in a strong negotiating position for any potential transfer this month.

Bade does have some experience in England after briefly being under contract at Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal, but he never played a game for the club and his move was terminated halfway through.

Unai Emery Aston Villa

Villa fans have recently expressed concern about the direction the team is moving in, with some fans believing that the squad are no longer listening to Emery.

These concerns have been aired after the Villa boss questioned the mentality of his players following their recent Champions League defeat to Monaco.
