Aston Villa surely well-placed to seal bargain £21.8m Denzel Dumfries deal as Inter fire sale could be on

Aston Villa have a golden opportunity to finally seal a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries this summer.

Unai Emery’s side have been continuously linked with the Dutchman in recent transfer windows, and it has now become clear that Inter are ready to move him on this summer.

The Italian giants are set to make every member of their squad available for transfer ahead of next season, according to InterLive, with striker duo Lautaro Martinez and Francesco Pio Esposito the only exceptions.

That looks set to play perfectly into the hands of the Villans, who are still lurking with their interest in the 29-year-old ahead of the summer window.

Aston Villa’s transfer intentions are clear, and Inter have now given them an open goal in order to push through a deal ahead of next season.

Bargain Denzel Dumfries deal on from July

Dumfries is a player of vast experience, having played in a Champions League final for Inter and also featured for his country in two separate major tournaments.

That has unsurprisingly seen him emerge on the radar of several Premier League clubs again ahead of the summer, with Villa among those who are keen to strike a deal for him.

L’Interista reported at the end of March that his departure from the San Siro is a “concrete hypothesis” this summer, and a deal could even be achievable for a bargain price for a player of his ability.

Dumfries has a £21.8million release clause included in his contract, which is set to come into play at the start of July, leaving the door open for a relatively cheap deal to be struck.

That looks set to give Villa the perfect chance to finally take their interest to the next level, and they are surely well-placed to make advancements in the coming months, given how long they have pursued the defender for.

Aston Villa cash boost to help afford Dumfries deal

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider earlier this week that Villa are in line to earn £200m in broadcast revenue for their performances this season, and that could climb even higher if they qualify for the Champions League.

The second city outfit have struggled to make the additions to their squad that they have desired in recent years, as their financial constraints have held them back on several occasions.

However, their imminent revenue boost would surely leave them in a good place to be able to pay £21.8m for Dumfries this summer, with money also likely spare to complete some other deals.

Emery’s tenure in charge has transformed the outlook both on and off the pitch at Villa Park, and he will be keen to ensure that he has the tools to continue taking the team to new levels.
