Aston Villa tipped to agree Jacob Ramsey deal after behind-the-scenes reveal – Whelan

Noel Whelan has tipped Aston Villa to reward Jacob Ramsey by offering him a new and improved contract.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker claimed the club and Steven Gerrard “realise what a talent they have” in the 20-year-old and will want to extend his deal.

Ramsey has been in scintillating form this calendar year, with three goals and one assist in his last three Premier League appearances.

As quoted by the Daily Mail (11 February) Gerrard revealed the centre-midfielder is “first on the training pitch and last off.”

The Villa boss urged Ramsey to stay dedicated and humble if he wants to fulfil his potential.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Russell Edge for his assessment of Ramsey’s future, Whelan said:

“Despite having a few years left on his contract, I think they’ll look to renew.

“The club and Steven Gerrard realise what a talent they have on their hands and will want to reward the young man with a pay rise.

“You want to keep him happy, you want to keep him feeling wanted and let’s be right, he deserves it. This is how Aston Villa will do their business. They’ll realise just what an important player he is to the side.”
