‘Aston Villa to now sell two superstars for £100m’ after last-minute deal agreed
Aston Villa could now sell two superstars for “£100million” despite selling their women’s team to avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The Midlands club were plunged into uncertainty when they missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the season.
Unai Emery’s side fell foul of a dreadful refereeing decision during their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, which effectively cost them around £200million.
Villa completed the last-minute sale of their women’s side, which helped them raise funds before their accounting deadline at the end of last month (30 June).
However, Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness– who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that his former side may still suffer some major losses this summer.

‘Villa will sell their quality stars’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that it could be an “attractive” proposition for Villa to make £100m in player sales, as it would give them a huge transfer budget.
As well as selling their women’s team for £55m, the Midlands giants could also use the newly built music venue (The Warehouse) outside the ground to raise funds.
Wyness added that the sale of both assets could raise another £100m for Emery to spend in the market.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There’s conflicting stories coming through. I do personally think that there were some issues around PSR. I think it was just too close. And I think it may have been a timing issue as much as anything else.
“Nevertheless, there aren’t many facilities around Villa Park to sell, but they’ve managed to find one in ‘The Warehouse’, which is the new live music venue they’ve created at Villa Park. That, along with the women’s team, could have given them about £100million in clearance.
“The women’s team deal could avoid a sale of somebody like Morgan Rogers, but I still believe Villa will look to sell at least one, if not two, of their quality stars.
“They’re going to do all they can, and Monchi will do all he can to try and keep that squad together for Unai Emery but also the attraction of having £100m to spend, plus another £100m if they sold the player, would mean that there could be some serious rebuilding for Emery, and that would be very attractive.”

‘Tottenham make move to sign Ramsey’
Tottenham are reportedly plotting a move to sign Aston Villa star Ramsey after making contact with his agent about a potential deal.
That is according to former Villa scout Mick Brown, who claimed that the 24-year-old would be open to the move to kickstart his career.
Thomas Frank is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder, while he has been a long-term target for Spurs’ recruitment team who have been tracking him all season.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed in May that Ramsey is “unhappy” at Villa and would be open to a move for more regular starts.
