Aston Villa ‘to price Man City out of move’ for dazzler ‘who would slot into Pep’s XI’
Man City are in the process of rebuilding their squad after an underwhelming season and could look to turn their attention to an Aston Villa star.
The defending Premier League champions were very active in the January transfer window as Pep Guardiola looks to turn their fortunes around in a bid to get the club back competing for silverware.
The summer transfer window is expected to be equally as busy, with the club aiming to provide further competition with strength in depth.
Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that City are set to race Tottenham to try and sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace.
Guardiola wants to provide more depth in the midfield after being without Rodri due to injury, as he looks to avoid being in the same situation moving forward.
City could now make a move to Morgan Rogers in a bid to bring him back to the football club after his impressive season for Villa.

Man City could be restricted by PSR
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has revealed he’s not sure City would “put all their eggs” into the 22-year-old.
“I don’t see his club letting him go,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“The value that they would put on him, would probably price Manchester City out of it.
“We know the amount of money that Manchester City have spent in January, you know, they were the biggest spenders in January.
Club stats 2024-25 (all competitions) | Rogers |

“So the FFP [and] PSR, we’re obviously going to find out about these charges coming up soon.
“The type of money that it would take to get Jacob Ramsey, I’m not so sure that Manchester City would put all their eggs in that basket.
“He’s a top-quality player and he would fit in, and Pep would utilize him, he’d probably get the best out of him.”

Man City could lose a former Aston Villa star
Even though City are considering a move for Rogers, they could be set to lose someone who they previously bought from Villa.
Football Insider revealed that City are willing to accept offers for Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window after he has fallen out of the squad.
The winger is believed to be ready for a new challenge as he hopes to get more playing time, with several clubs set to be lining up to sign Grealish.
