Aston Villa told to U-turn on Ryan Kent deal after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Aston Villa to U-turn on their interest in Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker said Kent would not “fit in” with the Villa team.

Kent has entered the final 12 months of his Ibrox contract.

On 1 October, sources told this site that the winger has rejected a new contract offer from the Gers as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League.

According to the Sunday Mirror, as reported in the Daily Record (2 October), Steven Gerrard’s side are said to be interested in a move for the 25-year-old.

Gerrard brought the former England youth international to the Light Blues in 2018, initially on loan and could give Kent his chance in the Premier League.

When asked if a move to Villa Park would be good for both sides, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No.

He would not fit in to the Aston Villa team. They have got so many forward thinking players at Aston Villa, you can’t squeeze them all in. At some point you have got to defend.

At some point you have got to chase back and he is not doing that. He is not showing a willingness to do that. When you lose the ball the first thing you have to do is get it back.

Rangers

Kent has made 13 appearances for the Bears across all competitions this season.

In those outings he has scored one goal and provided four assists.
