Aston Villa top source drops major Marcus Rashford update – ‘he’s making noises’
Aston Villa will have the option to sign on-loan forward Marcus Rashford from Man United for £40million this summer.
The 27-year-old has hit four goals and notched six assists in 17 games across all competitions for Unai Emery’s side.
Villa’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League were dented on Tuesday (22 April) after losing 2-1 away at Man City.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month (3 April) that Rashford will have to consider taking a wage drop if he is to seal a permanent move to Aston Villa.
Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed it is unlikely he will remain at the club past the summer.
Aston Villa set to pass on chance to sign Rashford, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Aston Villa are set to pass up the chance to sign Rashford with the forward still “making noises about Barcelona”.
The England international was widely linked with a move to the Catalan giants in January but they were reportedly unable to fund the move.

Wyness claimed Rashford’s form at Villa hasn’t been “great” despite him stealing a starting spot away from Ollie Watkins.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’m not completely sure both parties – Rashford and Villa – want to go forward.
“Rashford is still making noises about Barcelona, Villa are sitting on the fence.
“Watkins is coming back into good form, so I don’t necessarily think it’s a done deal for Rashford.
“If they qualify for the Champions League, would they necessarily take him? I don’t think so.
“I think Villa will be happy to move on without him.
“Certainly, if they don’t qualify – I can’t see how it happens.
“While it’s been good, it hasn’t been a great spell for Rashford so far at Villa.”

Aston Villa stance revealed after Man City’s Morgan Rogers swoop
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (9 April) that Aston Villa are confident of keeping Morgan Rogers this summer despite potential interest from Man City.
Man City have been linked with a shock move to bring the 22-year-old back to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Sources say three-cap England international Rogers is happy at Villa Park after signing a contract running until June 2030 last year.
