‘Aston Villa vulnerable to Jacob Ramsey approach as Arsenal and Tottenham close in’
Aston Villa could be set to lose midfielder Jacob Ramsey this summer, much to the delight of Arsenal and Tottenham.
Ramsey played 29 games this season as Unai Emery’s side missed out on Champions League qualification as a result of having an inferior goal difference.
On the final day, Villa lost 2-0 away at Manchester United, but the Midlands club felt they were wronged by a poor refereeing decision.
With the scores still level, Morgan Rogers had a goal disallowed, a decision that former referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider was a “huge error”.

Ramsey could leave
Aston Villa may consider suing the Premier League, with the controversial call against United costing the club around £150million.
To make matters worse, as a result of missing out on Champions League football, Emery’s side may be forced to sell players this summer.
Position | Team | Points | Goal Difference |
5 | Newcastle | 66 | 21 |
6 | Aston Villa | 66 | 7 |
7 | Nottingham Forest | 65 | 14 |
TalkSPORT (27 May) are reporting that Ramsey could be one that Villa are forced to let go, to ensure they don’t break PSR rules.
The midfielder is valued at around £50m, and due to the fact that he came through the ranks at the Midlands club, can be sold for 100 per cent profit.
Finance expert Stefan Borson, exclusively told Football Insider that Villa have a PSR shortfall again this season, and sales are needed to balance the books.

Villa set for another difficult window
Football Insider Verdict
Last summer, Villa were forced to sell Douglas Luiz, Tim Iroegbunam, and Omari Kellyman before the PSR deadline, in order to ensure they weren’t breaching the financial regulations.
Despite making a number of other sales as well, they find themselves in a similar position this year, as a result of splashing the cash once again.
Youri Tielemans has been linked with a Villa exit, as the Midlands club looks for any way to avoid potential points deductions in the future.
Both Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in Morgan Rogers, with the young talent potentially bringing in up to £100m.
However, all purchasing clubs will be aware of the dire situation Aston Villa find themselves in, which will greatly reduce their negotiating power, and potentially lead to them selling assets at a cut price.
