Aston Villa want to offload 25-year-old once loved by fans in summer - report
Aston Villa want to offload Carles Gil to Deportivo on a permanent basis in the summer, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail claims that Gil, 25, is enjoying his second season-long loan at Deportivo, but he has recently been dropped from the first-team by new manager Clarence Seedorf, who has played him just once since taking charge.
It is understood that the Spanish attacker’s future is in doubt at Estadio Riazer due to the change in management, but the Villains are still hopeful that a deal will go through.
Gil signed for Aston Villa for £3.5million from Valencia in 2015 and was an instant hit among fans due to his flair and creative ability.
He was one of few players to get the supporters off their seats in what was a period of major decline for Villa in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Villains, scoring three goals, but it seems that he will be unable to add to that once his second loan spell at Deportivo ends in the summer.

Football Insider verdict
Gil was a very promising young player when he first burst on to the scene at Villa Park, but like many of the players signed in the last few years of Premier League football at the club, he rapidly declined to the point where loaning him out was the only viable option. Gil has one year left on his deal at Aston Villa so it is imperative that Steve Bruce cashes in on him this summer rather than lose him for free in a years’ time. There will surely be interest in him after a semi-decent loan spell at Deportivo, but it seems unlikely that Seedorf will want to sign him.
In other Aston Villa news, the Villains have agreed terms to a deal with this defender.
