‘Aston Villa will drop Ollie Watkins’ after game-changing reveal – reaction

Aston Villa supporters have demanded that Ollie Watkins is dropped from the starting lineup as a new statistic has showcased him as being wasteful.

The 28-year-old has missed 13 big chances in the Premier League this season, which is more than any other player.

Erling Haaland is in second place with 12, while Mohamed Salah, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Jean-Philippe Mateta make up the rest of the top five.

Watkins has started all of Villa’s Premier League fixtures this season and has scored six goals and provided two assists so far.

However, the England international has only provided one goal in his previous five appearances after missing multiple chances against Chelsea last Saturday (1 December).

Villa has a team have scored 19 times in their opening 13 fixtures, with only three teams above them in the division boasting a worse record.

Watkins is under contract at Villa Park until 2028, but supporters have called for Unai Emery to drop him and give others a chance to start.

Fans have claimed that he needs “too many chances to score,” while others have claimed they need another striker to “push him further.”

Duran must be thinking what’s the point in signing that new deal. At his age he’ll be chomping at the bit to play. Watkins isn’t in form so must be dropped.
