Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno shares ‘farewell’ message amid Leeds United links
Aston Villa full-back Alex Moreno has added fuel to rumours of a Leeds United move after taking to social media with a new post.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road this summer, with Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna reporting (10 June) that he has been added to a list of targets for the newly promoted side.
Daniel Farke is currently on the verge of losing his first-choice left-back, with Football Insider understanding earlier this month that Junior Firpo is increasingly unlikely to sign a new deal.
If the Whites are to avoid being relegated straight back down to the Championship next season, they must bring a wealth of experience to Elland Road over the coming weeks, and Moreno could be one of those players.
The 32-year-old, who was on loan with Nottingham Forest last season, has fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery and could be available for Farke’s choosing this summer.
Alex Moreno continues to be linked away from Villa Park
Taking to Instagram stories (13 June), travelling on a train with a Futsal star, Moreno wrote, translated to English: “When you have a farewell and you don’t know what awaits you.”

Daniel Farke to bring Aston Villa ace to Leeds United this summer
Football Insider verdict
The Whites finally secured promotion to the Premier League at the second time of asking, having missed out so cruelly during the 2023/24 season, losing to Southampton in the play-off final.
Farke’s team have come a long way since then, with Manor Solomon and Joe Rothwell making huge impacts during their temporary, season-long spells at Elland Road.
Football Insider understand, however, that a deal for Leeds to sign Solomon will be very difficult this summer, with several teams interested, including Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Some supporters at Elland Road have raised concerns over the manager’s record in the Premier League, but having not been backed at Norwich City, it feels unfair to judge him on those stats.
With Paraag Marathe openly backing the German, it seems unlikely that a change will be made ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but he will be very quickly judged once the new season starts.
Adding characters to the dressing room, such as Moreno, could be of vital importance this summer, with the 32-year-old bringing plenty of experience with him away from Villa Park.
