Atletico Madrid star reacts to Cristian Romero’s message after Tottenham transfer news
Cristian Romero has been subject to plenty of speculation about his future at Tottenham since the summer transfer window opened.
The 27-year-old played a key role as Ange Postecoglou’s side lifted the Europa League last time out in what was seen as a potential parting gift from the defender.
Since Thomas Frank’s arrival, there has been speculation about whether the Argentina international could be allowed to leave as part of a major overhaul.
Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 19 July that Frank is planning major changes at Tottenham and expects “huge” business to come before the window closes.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 2 July that Atletico Madrid have spoken to Romero’s agent about the possibility of a move this summer.
Diego Simeone is believed to be a big fan of his and would be keen to add him to his squad as they aim to challenge Barcelona and Real Madrid once more.

Christian Romero shares Tottenham update amid exit links
While talks surrounding Romero’s potential exit from Tottenham has died down in recent weeks, there is an ongoing feeling that his future is not guaranteed.
For now, though, he remains a part of Frank’s plans for the upcoming season as work has already begun on the training ground to implement his new style.
Taking to Instagram on 23 July, the centre-back shared new images during pre-season training with Spurs as they step up preparations for the new Premier League season.
The post was liked by a number of his Spurs and international teammates including James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, and Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez.
Spurs eye Illia Zabarnyi as defensive reinforcements lined up
While Romero’s future remains somewhat up in the air at Spurs, they have set their sights on bringing a new centre-back to the club to bolster their back line.
Football Insider revealed on 22 July that Tottenham are interested in Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi and have joined Paris Saint-Germain in the race for his signature.
Sources say that a bid in excess of £60million will be very hard for the Cherries to turn down, and could see the Ukrainian complete a move to North London.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 17 June that Bournemouth are braced to lose Zabarnyi in what will be a “huge blow” to Andoni Iraola.
