Celtic failed to take advantage of playing against 10 men for the entire second-half as they were held to a goalless draw by Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.
Brendan Rodgers made two changes from the side which defeated Rangers 3-2, match-winner Odsonne Edouard replacing the injured Kieran Tierney, and Jack Hendry coming in for the suspended Jozo Simunovic.
Both sides had chances in the first-half, with James Forrest having an effort saved by Trevor Carson, before Scott Bain was forced to make two good saves from a Curtis Main header and free-kick.
The pivotal moment of the game arrived in the 41st minute, when Motherwell’s Cedric Kipre was sent-off by referee Craig Thomson for a kick out at Hoops captain Scott Brown.
The award was a bit soft but Kipre shouldn’t have given the referee the opportunity to send him off in the first place.
The Hoops dominated the second-half, with Tom Rogic taking control and twice being denied by Carson.
Moussa Dembele headed an effort over the bar and substitute Patrick Roberts hit the top of the crossbar as the Hoops piled on the pressure.
Stuart Armstrong then curled an effort just round the post as the Hoops again came close.
Scott Sinclair then had a late effort on goal blocked by Richard Tait as the game ended goalless.
