Au revoir Arsene – Five greatest Tottenham games against Wenger’s Arsenal
5. Tottenham 4 – 5 Arsenal (13/11/2004)
While it seems strange to kick the list off with an Arsenal win, this was one of the most remarkable derby days in north London history and one which is worthy of mention.
The final result might not have been what Spurs fans were hoping for but the performance against what was effectively a full strength Gunners side would have filled them with hope of progress against their rivals – something of a false dawn then.
After Nourredine Naybet’s opener at White Hart Lane, Wenger’s men hit back, Thierry Henry, Bissan Lauren and Patrick Vieira all scoring as the Lilywhites looked to be on the end of another trouncing.
Jermaine Defoe hit back to bring the deficit closer but goals from Freddie Ljungberg and Robert Pires, sandwiching a rare Ledley King strike, seemed to have put the game to bed, only for Freddie Kanoute to score in the 88th minute and set up a tense end to a cracking game.
