Au revoir Arsene – Five greatest Tottenham games against Wenger’s Arsenal

4. Arsenal 4 – 4 Tottenham (29/10/2008)

Another sensational comeback from Spurs, this time it actually resulted in a hard fought point.

Once again it was Spurs who took the lead, David Bentley’s sensational strike from 40-plus yards making it a feature of footballing highlight reels for the rest of his career and beyond – but from there out it was Arsenal who dominated.

Mikael Silvestre, William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor all scored as it looked to be a cakewalk for Wenger’s men, and while Darren Bent seemed to have thrown the visitors a lifeline, it looked extinguished a minute later by Robin van Persie’s fierce strike.

However, with two minutes remaining on the clock, Jermaine Jenas curled home to give Spurs some sort of hope, and the stunning turnaround was completed with just seconds to spare, Aaron Lennon finding himself in the right place at the right time to slot the ball home from Luka Modric’s rebounded shot.

Pure drama.
