Aurelien Tchouameni to join Liverpool? O’Rourke shares major update
Liverpool will find a January deal for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni “very difficult”, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old is a long-term target for the Reds and has been monitored since his emergence at Monaco.
However, sources say his price tag remains very high and Madrid could price Liverpool out of a move in the mid-season window.
It is believed that Carlo Ancelotti and Santiago Bernabeu chiefs are also unwilling to weaken their squad in January as they prepare for a close La Liga title race with rivals Barcelona.
Tchouameni is widely regarded as a top player but has not shown his best in the 2024-25 campaign so far.
He has made 14 appearances for Real Madrid so far this term, starting in 13 of those outings.
The France international, who cost a reported fee of around £85million two years ago, primarily plays as a central midfielder but has also filled in as a centre-back under Ancelotti.
Liverpool to be priced out of January move for Tchouameni
Liverpool flirted with a move for a new midfield star in the summer window but were unable to strike a deal.
Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi was top of the Reds’ shortlist but a deal for the Spain international fell through.

Ryan Gravenberch has proved one of Arne Slot’s favourites this term, starting all 13 games in the Premier League and Champions League.
Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, Dominic Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are among Slot’s other midfield options.
