‘Awful’ Celtic and Rangers plan could ’cause uproar’ and have ‘massive issues’ – pundit
A plan to play Celtic and Rangers matches in England would “cause chaos”, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England defender claimed it would cause “massive issues” and the optics would be “awful”.
The Sun reported on Wednesday (5 January) Scottish Premiership clubs may explore the idea of playing league games outside of the country if crowd restrictions continue in the long term.

The SRU may move their Six Nations clash with England next month (5 February) to Newcastle if the 500-limit remains and that is being monitored by football chiefs.
“I think it will cause uproar and I can’t see the Scottish government allowing that,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“When they say ‘Do not travel, do not this, do no that’. Politically, in terms of the optics of it, I think it would be awful.
“Look at Australia and what has happened with Novak Djokovic. They wanted him in the tournament because he’s a magnificent player and then public opinion goes ‘No, no, no, you can’t be treating people differently, it’s not fair, it’s not right’.
“When you start getting involved with politics and sport at that level it can cause massive issues.
“Once they get over this winter break things should return to pre-November levels.
“Look at the travel situation now. Covid is here and we’ve got to live with it, work around it at times.
“Once we get towards the end of January things will start to ease and we can go from there.”

Celtic and Rangers are set to meet in the league on 2 February.
The game was originally scheduled for 2 January before the winter break was brought forward.
