Axel Disasi: Leeds can land double West Ham blow by luring defender
Axel Disasi’s list of suitors this summer will include Leeds United after his career revival with West Ham United.
The 28-year-old scored on Sunday as the Whites beat the Hammers on penalties, after the game had ended 2-2 in normal time.
Goals from Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had Leeds ahead going into the final minutes, before both Mateus Fernandes and Disasi scored in stoppage time to stun the visitors.
Daniel Farke’s team held their nerve in the shootout, however, with Lucas Perri’s saves from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo proving enough to send them through to a semi-final against Chelsea later this month.
Leeds transfer chiefs will be keeping a close eye on Disasi’s situation, especially given West Ham’s chances of going down.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that West Ham have planned talks for Disasi, after the superb impact the defender has had.
The France international cost Chelsea £38million to sign from Monaco in 2023, but initially struggled to adapt to the Premier League.

Last season saw him make just six Premier League appearances before he was loaned out to Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.
And the start of this season saw Disasi become an outcast completely at Stamford Bridge, locked out of training as decision-makers hoped to force a move.
West Ham took a chance by signing him on loan in January, and they have been rewarded significantly.
Disasi’s superb performance on Sunday was the latest in a string of fantastic showings, with the defender having played almost every minute of every game since joining.
Before West Ham have reached an agreement with Chelsea, however, Leeds could still steal in and sign the 28-year-old for next season.
The Whites have been heavily linked in the past, and will be hoping the Irons are relegated to clear the path.
How much will Disasi go for?
While Chelsea paid a hefty price to sign Disasi in 2023, they will not expect to make even close to that fee back on him this summer.
The 28-year-old is under contract until 2029, however, and decision-makers will hope to attract respectable offers.
According to reports in Italy, Chelsea are hoping to land as much as £20m for the France international.
For a player who had not made an appearance this season before February, that seems steep. Both Leeds and West Ham will be hoping the Blues’ stance softens as the summer approaches.
