Axel Disasi sends five-word Aston Villa message after Chelsea snub
Axel Disasi shared an upbeat message on social media after making his Aston Villa debut in the Premier League clash against Ipswich Town.
Aston Villa were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Villa Park on 15 February, despite Ipswich being reduced to ten men in the first half.
Liam Delap gave the visitors a lead in the second-half despite Axel Tuanzebe’s early red card. Villa eventually found their breakthrough when Ollie Watkins capitalised on Marcus Rashford’s powerful free-kick that rattled the crossbar, slotting in the rebound to secure a point.
Disasi arrived at Villa in the January transfer window on a straight loan deal from Chelsea, with no option or obligation to buy. Disasi had been strongly linked with Tottenham but ultimately chose to join Unai Emery’s squad, where he was handed an immediate start.
Despite the disappointment of dropping points against a struggling Ipswich side, he remained positive about his debut performance, sharing an encouraging message with fans after the game.

The centre-back shared a series of match photos on Instagram, captioning his post: “First steps with the squad.”

He joined the club on loan until the end of the season, though Aston Villa had also considered making a £50 million bid in a permanent transfer for Disasi. While it remains to be seen whether they will revisit that option in the summer, the loan move gives them the flexibility to assess his long-term fit.
Initially, some Aston Villa fans were sceptical about signing Disasi, but he has already shown he can contribute to the squad. With Diego Carlos departing for Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in January and Tyrone Mings struggling with ongoing injury concerns, the Frenchman provides much-needed depth in defence.
Unai Emery to offer Axel Disasi a bigger role than Enzo Maresca

The French international left Chelsea in January alongside Renato Veiga and Joao Felix, all securing temporary moves in search of more playing time.
Under Enzo Maresca, Disasi struggled for regular minutes, making just four Premier League starts and featuring in 18 matches across all competitions, where he recorded two goals and two assists.
A move to Villa presents the 26-year-old with a fresh opportunity, not only for consistent game time but also to compete in the Champions League. With the team automatically qualifying for the Round of 16, Disasi has the chance to prove himself at the highest level under Emery, rather than being part of a rotational setup at Chelsea.
