Axel Disasi surely set to leave Chelsea before 2 February deadline as talks held over imminent termination

Axel Disasi could finally be about to leave Chelsea in the final days before Monday night’s transfer deadline.

The centre-back has been part of the ‘bomb squad’ at Chelsea for over a year now, having been cut adrift from the rest of the group by Enzo Maresca, and his situation has shown no signs of changing under Liam Rosenior.

Football Insider revealed at the start of January that Leeds were well-placed to sign Disasi before the end of the month, while West Ham have also been linked with a move for the Stamford Bridge outcast.

Chelsea are now trying to conclude their final pieces of business before the imminent deadline, with Disasi’s future among those that still need to be settled.

Mamadou Sarr loan termination to spell the end for Axel Disasi

Chelsea agreed to terminate Raheem Sterling’s contract earlier this week, as they finally began to make inroads towards getting the ‘bomb squad’ off the books after the arrival of their new manager.

Like Disasi, Sterling hadn’t featured for the Blues in over a year, having spent the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign out on loan at Arsenal, where he was little more than a squad player for Mikel Arteta.

With the winger now free to sign for another club as a free agent, Disasi could become the next man to follow him out of the door at the West London outfit.

Rosenior is keen to bring fellow centre-back Mamadou Sarr back from his loan at Strasbourg, with discussions now underway within BlueCo over potentially terminating the loan deal imminently.

The addition another central defender into the squad would add yet another barrier between Disasi and a return to first-team action at Chelsea, and this will surely be the final straw in his time with the club.

He has been linked with a move to AC Milan in recent days, and with yet another defensive option due to join Rosenior’s group, it surely makes sense for all parties to part ways, whether that be through a transfer or the same route as Sterling.

Chelsea must be receptive to AC Milan’s demands for Disasi

An exit for Disasi has eluded Chelsea once again in this window, and it is perhaps because they are demanding too much from potential suitors for the defender.

West Ham had been in advanced talks to take the 27-year-old on loan until the end of the season, but were unable to reach an agreement with their London neighbours, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

That suggests that Todd Boehly and Co. were potentially trying to play hardball with the Hammers and secure the deal on their terms, which isn’t really in their interests if they want to get rid of the player.

Milan are now showing an interest in Disasi in the final stages of the window, but a deal will only be achieved if Chelsea are willing to soften a little in order to get it over the line.

A loan exit may not be their ideal outcome, but it still clears Disasi from their wage bill for a few months, and with that in mind, they need to ensure that they are receptive to Milan’s suggestions.
