Bacuna, Ayew and Cissokho dropped in Di Matteo 4-2-3-1: Aston Villa best possible XI to face Forest

COMMENT by Amir Mir

Roberto Di Matteo should drop Leandro Bacuna, Jordan Ayew and Aly Cissokho in Aston Villa’s clash against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon at Villa Park.

Leandro Bacuna should be dropped as he adds no value in attack or defence to the Championship team.

Bacuna has played at right-back and the right side of midfield for Di Matteo this season, but an inability to either be solid defensively or creative should see him axed.

Jordan Ayew should be dropped to the bench with deadline-day signing Adomah taking his place on the right wing, and in-form Jack Grealish on the left.

Fan-favourite Jordan Amavi should be brought back into action at left-back in place of Cissokho, so he can rediscover the form which won him plaudits prior to his long-term knee injury.

James Chester should continue to build his partnership with captain Tommy Elphick at the heart of the club’s defence.

Combative midfielder Mile Jedinak should use his experience and tough nature to help Villa win important duels in the middle of the park, alongside Gary Gardner.

Di Matteo’s side have scored five goals this term and should use £27 million strike duo Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia as their attacking force.

Both strikers hit the 20-goal mark last season and Di Matteo should quickly integrate them as a partnership. If they both bang the goals in again, Villa will start moving up the table.
