Aymeric Laporte responds to Man City star Phil Foden’s poignant message

Aymeric Laporte has responded to a poignant message shared by former Man City teammate Phil Foden.

Laporte made 180 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s men before joining Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr in 2023.

During a stellar stint at the Etihad Stadium, the Spain international won five Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Foden featured as Man City thrashed UAE club Al Ain in the Club World Cup on Monday, 23 June.

Laporte responds as Foden shares ‘family’ message

Thanks to their back-to-back wins over Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain, Man City have progressed to the last 16 of the Club World Cup.

But away from the footballing action, Foden shared photos with his children on 23 June, captioned: “Family” alongside a blue heart emoji.

Laporte commented: “Ronnie.”

Juventus clash can hand Phil Foden big Man City opportunity

Foden endured a poor Premier League campaign last term, compared to the lofty standards he has set himself over the years, as he scored just seven goals in 28 top-flight appearances.

Foden wasn’t at his best last season

But the Club World Cup hands the 25-year-old a major opportunity to get himself back on form ahead of next season, and he starred as he scored a goal as well as producing an assist against Wydad Casablanca on Wednesday, 18 June.

However, Foden did not build on that momentum when he failed to make a goal contribution after entering the action at half-time against Al Ain on 23 June.

It is therefore crucial that he produces the goods against Juventus on Thursday, 26 June, even though Guardiola’s side have already reached the knockout stages.

The opportunity to take on such high-calibre opposition with little riding on the fixture is a rarity, which gives Foden a chance to express himself.
