Aymeric Laporte shares the love with Erling Haaland after Man City thrash Liverpool

Aymeric Laporte celebrated Erling Haaland’s hat-trick against Liverpool alongside all other Manchester City supporters.

The 31-year-old defender spent six successful seasons at the Etihad Stadium, leaving with five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League trophy, and the respect of the fanbase.

While he only experienced one of those campaigns alongside Haaland, the two clearly formed a lasting relationship, with the Spanish international wanting to share the love on social media after City’s FA Cup clash.

Man City beat Liverpool 4-0 on Saturday, 4 April, with Antoine Semenyo grabbing the other goal against Arne Slot’s side, advancing to the FA Cup semi-finals ahead of the next-round draw on Monday, 5 April.

Aymeric Laporte applauds Erling Haaland’s hat-trick

Laporte was a fan-favourite during his time at the Etihad Stadium, and the supporters will love him even more following his message to City’s hat-trick hero on social media.

Taking to Instagram stories (4 April), the Spaniard simply posted a video of Haaland’s celebrations, tagging both the club’s official account and the Norwegian, with clapping and blue heart emojis.

Salt was really rubbed into Liverpool’s wounds when Mohamed Salah saw his late penalty saved by James Trafford, but it was Haaland who stole the headlines in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Of course, before West Ham versus Leeds United, the main talking point turned out to be Arsenal being knocked out by Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium, but Haaland’s hat-trick was a close second.

Man City must enjoy Haaland while they can

A lot has been made about the Norwegian striker’s future at the Etihad Stadium, having been heavily linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona over the last couple of seasons.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Haaland’s potential move to Barcelona is “downright lies,” which will be a relief to City fans, and certainly Pep Guardiola, should he stay for another season.

The 25-year-old is currently contracted until the summer of 2034, meaning it would take quite a transfer fee to secure his signature, but there are growing fears that his future is uncertain.

With 157 goals in 190 appearances, it would be almost impossible to replace him with anyone in the coming years, which is why supporters are hoping for him to end his career at the Etihad.
