Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale after his “superb” performance against Southampton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 31-year-old quite clearly had “an issue” with recently departed manager Jose Mourinho.
Bale was on the scoresheet last night, as Ryan Mason opened his temporary spell in charge of Spurs with a 2-1 against the Saints.

A season-long loan signing from Real Madrid, Bale struggled for regular game time under Mourinho.
The Wales international has contributed 11 goals and three assists in 28 games this term, with 16 of those appearances starts.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Bale’s performance, Robinson said: “Bale was superb last night.
“He was not given enough opportunity under Mourinho. We have talked about whether he has been fit enough all season but last night he proved that he is.
“There was obviously an issue between him and the manager.
“We saw Harry Winks as well last night so clearly there was problems behind the scenes between those two players and Mourinho. I expect we will see a lot more of them over the coming weeks.”
Bale will be in contention to start against Manchester City in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
It is unclear as to whether Harry Kane will be fit for the clash, with the England captain missing Wednesday night’s win with an ankle problem.
