‘Barry Ferguson to be appointed the permanent Rangers manager’ – fans react
Rangers fans are calling for Berry Ferguson to be appointed as their permanent manager following their shock win against Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.
Ferguson’s side secured an outstanding 3-2 victory away from home, having led 2-0 at half-time through goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande.
The second half saw Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate drag Celtic back level at 2-2, before Hamza Igamane crashed home the late winner in the 88th minute.
Following the game, the travelling supporters, given an away allocation for the first time since the 2022/23 season, were left buzzing with the manager.
This comes after the former boss failed to win over the supporters during his time at Ibrox, as Rangers fans called for Clement’s sacking for months before his eventual dismissal.
Football Insider revealed on 2 March that Ferguson could be given the Rangers job if he enjoys a strong end to the season, particularly with wins against Celtic and in Europe.
Since then, his side have progressed into the quarter final of the Europa League after overcoming Fenerbahce and dominated Brendan Rodgers’ side at Parkhead.

49ers Enterprises leading Rangers manager decision
Rangers and prospective new owners 49ers Enterprises are keen to take their time over the appointment to ensure they get the right man.
Football Insider revealed Steven Gerrard is Rangers’ “dream appointment”, but they will assess all of their options and will use Ferguson’s spell to give themselves more time.
Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez are the two most high-profile managers to have been linked with the role since Clement’s dismissal as speculation continues to grow.
However, the Gers hierarchy are keen not to rush into a decision and end up with the wrong man after concerns about the appointments of Clement and Michael Beale in the past.
Barry Ferguson hailed by fans after Old Firm win v Celtic
Despite the level of interest in potential new managers, Ferguson continues to prove that he can lead this Rangers team to impressive results domestically and in Europe.
Whether it will be enough to land the job on a more permanent basis is unclear with the decision-making process ongoing, but he has given himself a fighting chance.
Following the win against Celtic, fans have taken to social media to call for his long-term appointment as they were left stunned by the “brilliant” result.
