Bayern Munich chase Nick Woltemade as Harry Kane verdict emerges
Nick Woltemade has enjoyed a terrific start to his career at Newcastle United after joining on a £69million deal from Stuttgart.
The Germany international scored as Eddie Howe’s side beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Carabao Cup, to progress to with quarter-final where they will face Fulham.
That goal took his tally to six in 11 games so far this season, and he has hit the ground running in the North East as the ideal replacement for Alexander Isak.
However, his fantastic start in the North East has also alerted some of his long-term admirers to his situation, with Bayern Munich among them.
Vincent Kompany‘s side had considered a move for the striker during the summer transfer window, but opted against pursuing the move, and ultimately missed out.

Nick Woltemade being tracked by Bayern Munich
Woltemade was linked with a move to Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window, but eventually dropped out of the running due to his price tag.
Despite his eventual move to St James’ Park, the recruitment team at Bayern are still believed to be keeping tabs on his progress with a long-term move in mind.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Bayern are tracking the 23-year-old and remain huge admirers of his.
“Bayern Munich are continuing to monitor Woltemade,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s somebody they’re very interested in, because circumstances can change in football and you’ve got to be up to date with your assessments of anybody you’re interested in.
“They were looking at him in the summer before he went to Newcastle, and he’s a player they like.
“Newcastle obviously aren’t going to entertain any talk about his exit any time soon, because he’s had a fantastic start and he’s under a long contract.
“He looks like he enjoys the game, which is a big positive. He’s a bit different to most strikers you see, but he’s gone into Newcastle and shown what he can do.
“He leads the line well, links play, scores goals, and the player around him like him.

“But there’s been a lot of talk about Harry Kane and his future at Bayern Munich, even if nothing happens soon, he’s 32 now so long-term plans will be in place.
“Woltemade is somebody Bayern identified in the summer, who they think could be a replacement.
“Long term, nobody knows what’s going to happen, but Bayern will stay up to date with their assessments of him in case they decide to make a move in the future.”
Bayern are already planning for the future, regardless of speculation over Kane’s future, with a renewed focus on signing younger stars to secure their long-term position.
Bayern Munich assessing potential Harry Kane replacements
Kane’s future in Munich has been subject to speculation recently, amid links with a return to the Premier League thanks to a release clause in his contract.
Football Insider revealed on 26 September that Tottenham are planning to re-sign Kane should he become available, as a return to his former club may prove tempting.
Brown told Football Insider in March that Kane wants to return to the Premier League amid reported interest at the time from both Liverpool and Man United.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Football Insider revealed on 10 October that Bayern are planning contract talks with Kane to extend his stay at the club.
However, the German giants are still putting plans in place should he decide not to remain in Munich, while at 32 years old, long-term alternatives are being considered.
