Bayern Munich ‘relaxed’ about Michael Olise exit as Liverpool accelerate transfer plan

Bayern Munich are not concerned about the future of Michael Olise despite growing interest from Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is seen as a crucial part of Vincent Kompany’s plans for the future and the club have no plans to entertain offers for him any time soon.

This comes as Liverpool are planning to step up their interest after Mohamed Salah confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Bayern chiefs are not concerned about Olise and believe he will remain at the club.

The France international has been outstanding since his move from Crystal Palace, quickly becoming one of the world’s best players, and Liverpool may be made to look elsewhere.

Bayern Munich have no plans to sell Michael Olise

Football Insider revealed on 28 March that Liverpool are keen to sign Olise but it would take a “huge” offer to tempt Bayern Munich into negotiations.

Bayern club chiefs including honorary president Uli Hoeness and sporting director Max Eberl have come out to dismiss any suggestions that the winger could move on.

The German giants are confident of keeping hold of their best players as they continue their ambitious plans to dominate not just the Bundesliga but also the Champions League.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I’m sure he’s a player that Liverpool admire and would love to bring as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

“Bayern Munich are pretty relaxed over the whole situation, they’re confident they can keep hold of Michael Olise. He’s under contract until 2029.

“He’s having another great season for Bayern under Vincent Kompany, where they’re obviously fighting for Champions League success.

“They want to keep Olise, he’s still only 24 and they see him as a crucial part of the long-term project, so it will be difficult for Liverpool to prise him away.

“It’ll be even harder for them to prise him away if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season because it will affect their finances.

“So it’s not an easy deal to do for various reasons and Bayern Munich don’t want to let him go.”

Who else is on Liverpool’s list of Salah replacements?

Olise is not the only player Liverpool are considering as a replacement for Salah, with preparations underway behind the scenes to land a new winger.

The Reds have been prepared for the Egypt international’s eventual departure, and have been eyeing a number of potential targets for the position.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 16 February that Anthony Gordon is a target for Liverpool as they aim to strengthen out wide.

The England international could be allowed to leave Newcastle following what has been a frustrating season so far at St James’ Park.

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of his and could finally make a move to bring him to Anfield after keeping a close eye on his development.
