Danny Higginbotham has given his say on the clash between two of the Championship’s in-form sides and reckons the Cottagers will put a halt on Aston Villa’s march up the table.
Writing in his column in The Sun, the former Manchester United and Stoke City defender has predicted a 1-1 draw for Steve Bruce’s side’s away trip to Fulham.
Higginbotham wrote: “I was in the youth team when Steve Bruce was Man United captain.
“He was brilliant with the younger lads, always happy to stop and chat to us and give us advice so I’m delighted to see his Aston Villa challenging at the top of the Championship.
The Claret and Blues have been in stunning form lately and have stormed up the league table to second with seven wins in seven games and will be looking to make it eight on Saturday.
But it won’t be easy an easy trip for Bruce and co. with the Craven Cottage outfit on their own successful run.
After four wins in five matches, they haven’t tasted defeat in the league since their surprise 1-0 loss to Sunderland in the middle of January.
Higginbotham can see Robert Snograss getting his mark on the game and believes between the Scot and Ahmed Elmohamady, the two will create problems for Fulham.
As Higginbotham explained: “Villa have won seven in a row and Robert Snodgrass has been their star. He’s been involved in so many of their goals and I can see him getting an assist in a 1-1 draw.”
The Villa had a fantastic result last time out in the Championship, beating their rivals Birmingham City 2-0 in an assured performance.
Jack Grealish was key to the victory as the 22-year-old continues to go from strength to strength this season.
