BBC Reporter: Celtic on verge of securing long-term target transfer as double deal eyed

Celtic are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Dundee’s Jack Hendry, according to the BBC’s Chris McLaughlin.
The journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Bhoys are close to finally signing a player that they have been interested in for more than a month.

The Hoops had an undisclosed bid for the player turned down earlier in January, a bid that Dundee manger Neil McCann described as “very low“.
But now with the transfer window only hours away from slamming shut it seems that Brendan Rodgers will finally sign a player that he has long coveted.
McLaughlin also reports that the Hoops are still working to secure a double deal on deadline day, as they try to bring in Dundee’s on-loan at Hibernian goalkeeper Scott Bain to the club before the end of the deadline.
Football Insider verdict
Brendan Rodgers will be thrilled to finally sign a player he has lone been interested in. Hendry, who is only 22-years-old, could be a mainstay of the Hoops side for years to come if he plays to the best of his abilities. The former Wigan man has been in fine form for the Dens Park side this season and it looks like he has won a move to the Scottish champions. It will be interesting to see how much first-team football Hendry plays this season, as he could have his work cut out shifting the established partnership of Dedryck Boyata and Kristoffer Ajer. However, it’s all about having a big squad and Hendry will no doubt play a part at some stage of the season.
