‘Become immortal’ – Celtic fans beg for immediate u-turn from Hoops favourite
Celtic fans on social media are pleading with Patrick Roberts to stay with the Hoops, after the 21-year-old announced he is set to leave the Hoops.
The Manchester City loanee has spent the last two and a half seasons with the Bhoys, but he revealed on his personal Twitter account that he is returning to the north west of England after his temporary stay at Parkhead.
While most fans accept that Roberts deserves the chance to try and have a career in England, with one supporter claiming it had been ‘a privilege’ to watch him play, others were dismayed, with one pleading for the winger to stay with the Hoops and ‘become immortal’.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the news that Roberts is set to leave the Hoops:
Roberts was originally only on an 18 month loan deal with the Hoops, but such was his impact towards the end of last season that the Hoops managed to get him to return on loan for another season.
Unfortunately a long-term hamstring injury which kept him out of action for four months ended Roberts’ season before it really started, and even when fit he struggled to get into the team due to the excellent form of James Forrest.
Roberts will still go down as a Hoops hero though for the part he played in making history and winning back to back domestic trebles.
