Ben Chilwell reacts to confirmed Chelsea exit announcement

Chelsea are having a busy summer transfer window as Enzo Maresca looks to achieve more silverware with the Premier League giants.

Maresca steered the Stamford Bridge outfit to Conference League glory last term, before leading the Blues to the Club World Cup title on Sunday, 13 July.

The former Leicester City boss proved his ability to guide Chelsea to victory over elite opposition, as they beat PSG 3-0 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Maresca has made high-profile additions to the West London side in the transfer this summer, such as attacking duo Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Chilwell reacts as Djordje Petrovic leaves Chelsea

While Chelsea have signed Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, as well as the likes of Delap and Pedro, the West London outfit have also facilitated exits this summer.

One notable departure is that of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who joined Bournemouth on Wednesday, 16 July.

The Cherries confirmed Petrovic’s signature via Instagram as they posted: “We’re delighted to sign Petrovic from Chelsea on a five-year deal.”

Bournemouth’s announcement attracted a like from Blues defender Ben Chilwell, whose time at Stamford Bridge is set to come to an end this summer.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Chilwell has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

Bournemouth endured a tough start to the summer transfer window when former star defender Dean Huijsen joined Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Huijsen has already proven his worth for Xabi Alonso’s men by helping the 15-time Champions League winners reach the Club World Cup semi-finals, making five appearances in the competition.

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth also lost Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, as Reds boss Arne Slot continues to strengthen the Premier League champions.

But the Dorset club made a positive step when they handed talented attacker Antoine Semenyo a new contract, fending off interest in the transfer market from the likes of Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the goalkeeping department was a particular area of concern for Iraola, as last season’s shot-stopper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, returned from his loan spell from then parent club Chelsea before joining Arsenal.

But Bournemouth have effectively made up for Kepa’s departure by signing Petrovic, who had a successful loan spell with French side Strasbourg last season.
