Ben Chilwell to Crystal Palace: ‘Permanent Chelsea transfer exit update’
Crystal Palace fans have received an update on the club’s proposed move to sign Ben Chilwell from Chelsea, according to James Savundra.
The England international is set to join the South London side on a loan deal until the end of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
While some fans are not fully convinced by the deal for the left-back, he remains the club’s preferred option to add depth to that position, but there is no option to make the move permanent.
Savundra spoke on Sky Sports News, providing further details on the loan move. He said (10:02pm):”I mentioned Ben Chilwell, we understand that deal is very close. Ben Chilwell close to becoming a Crystal Palace player until the end of the season.
“A loan deal agreed between Crystal Palace and Chelsea. We understand it’s a loan with no option or no obligation to buy at the end of the loan spell.”

The loan deal does not include a buy option or obligation, provides a risk-free opportunity for Palace, as they won’t have to pay a fee if the move doesn’t work out, and the Blues are surely unlikely to refuse to discuss a permanent deal if their rivals are interested in one this summer.
With Tyrick Mitchell being the only natural left-back in the squad, the team are keen to reinforce the position.
Football Insider revealed on 28 January that Palace were planning a loan deal to address their left-back issues, with Chilwell identified as the key target to add depth.
The England international has faced a challenging season at Chelsea, slipping down the pecking order as Marc Cucurella has been favoured at left-back.
Chilwell has made just one appearance for Chelsea this season, with fans frustrated by the way the club, and Enzo Maresca, have handled his situation.
