Ben Gannon-Doak sends message to Julian Araujo after Celtic heroics vs Kilmarnock
Bournemouth star Ben Gannon-Doak has replied to Julian Araujo’s Instagram post after he scored a late winner to keep Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Araujo popped up with his first goal for Celtic in the 97th minute against Kilmarnock as they battled back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Rugby Park on Sunday.
The Mexico international joined the Hoops on loan from Bournemouth in January, after being limited to just one Carabao Cup appearance in the first half of the campaign.
He was handed a seventh Celtic outing by Martin O’Neill against Killie, with his goal taking them to within three points of league leaders Hearts after their loss to Rangers.

Ben Gannon-Doak comments under Julian Araujo’s celebratory post
Gannon-Doak and Araujo were teammates at Bournemouth before the latter’s loan exit, playing together once, during that aforementioned Carabao Cup game against Brentford last August.
The Scottish winger was on Celtic’s books and played twice for their first team before joining Liverpool in 2022.
He was linked with a return to Parkhead last summer before moving to the Cherries, and is currently in the midst of a lengthy injury layoff, having not featured since November.
Gannon-Doak clearly still holds Celtic close, after he replied to former teammate Araujo’s Instagram post of his celebrations against Kilmarnock with heart-eyes, fire and clapping emojis.
What has Araujo said about staying at Celtic beyond this season?
Araujo is clearly enjoying life at Celtic, with this being his first real run of consistent starts since he left Las Palmas for Bournemouth in 2024.
The right-back needed as such to make sure of his place in Mexico’s squad for this summer’s World Cup on home turf, and he has already been asked about possibly staying at Parkhead beyond the end of this term.
In an interview at the start of February, he said: “Football’s crazy, anything can happen. I’ve been happy here, I’m enjoying my football and I let my agent handle the rest.
“But of course I’ve been happy here. Obviously it’s a good city, good club, good people most importantly.
“I think at the end of the day I just want to play football and the rest my agent can handle.”
His late goal at Rugby Park could prove to be one of the most decisive moments of the campaign if Celtic do go on to win the Premiership, and he will go down as a club hero even if he does not return in the summer.
