Ben Johnson passes Ipswich Town medical after deal agreed – sources
Ben Johnson has passed an Ipswich Town medical and his move from West Ham should be announced in the next 48 hours, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider first revealed on 25 June the newly-promoted Premier League side were in advanced talks to sign the right-back on a free this summer.
The 24-year-old is out of contract with West Ham and has rejected multiple extension offers, including an improved contract presented to him this month.
Sources say Johnson has now passed a medical with Ipswich and is set to sign a four-year deal at Portman Road.
Ben Johnson set for West Ham exit after Ipswich deal agreed
West Ham were keen to keep hold of Johnson’s services after he’s spent the past 17 years at the club.
Since progressing through the ranks, the former England youth international has made 109 appearances for the club, playing right across the back four and also in midfield.
After seeing his opportunities limited in the first half of last season, Johnson was heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium in January before David Moyes handed him more minutes after the turn of the year.
Football Insider revealed on 14 June West Ham had offered the defender a new five-year deal following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as the club’s new manager.

But Johnson has been keen to secure the best possible deal to continue his development and has now agreed terms and passed his medical at Portman Road.
Kieran McKenna’s side are set to embark on their first campaign back in the Premier League for 22 years following their promotion from the Championship last season.
