Ben Johnson to leave West Ham after Leeds swoop – sources
West Ham star Ben Johnson is ready to quit the club at the end of his contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Johnson, 24, is under contract at the London Stadium until the end of June.
The versatile star is believed to be keen to take advantage of his free-agent status and secure a role as a key player elsewhere, as well as a long-term new contract.
Sources say the player’s versatility is highly valued by clubs in the Premier League and at the top Championship sides.
Football Insider revealed in January that Rangers, Leeds United and Sheffield United were all keen on moving for Johnson – and the trio could come back in for his services this summer.
The Irons academy product has made 22 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign but has started in only seven of those outings.
He made his West Ham senior debut in 2019 but has played just 109 times since then.
The former England Under-21 international has played in various positions since breaking through at the London Stadium, including right-back, left-back and centre-back, as well as right, left and central midfield.

Johnson is yet another home-grown star, alongside Devin Mubama and Michail Antonio, set to leave in the summer window.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (29 April) that the Irons are plotting four to six new signings – with a focus on domestic arrivals as they look to replenish their home-grown ranks.
