Benitez 'over the moon' with Everton star Delph amid '100%' Tottenham start claim - pundit
Rafa Benitez will be “over the moon” at Fabian Delph’s second-half display as Everton lost to 2-1 to Wolves, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Delph’s introduction at the break was a “gamechanger” for Everton.
The Toffees were already trailing 2-0 at the interval with Jean-Philippe Gbamin struggling in his first Premier League start since August 2019.
He was replaced by Delph at half-time who brought much-needed steel to the Everton midfield.
It was just the 31-year-old’s second Premier League appearance of the season as he has struggled with a shoulder injury.
“Fabian Delph came on [against Wolves] and changed the game for Everton,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He came on, got on the ball, brought some calmness into the midfield. They looked better in the second half.
“He 100 per cent walks into the team against Spurs.
“Benitez will have been over the month with his performance, his leadership as well.
“He was putting tackles in, getting on the ball, keeping it simple when he needed to.
“He’s a player that will definitely be starting in the next game because Benitez needs his experienced players in the team.
“It was good for Delph to get back into the team, he just loves football. He will have been frustrated that he’s had his injuries. He’ll just want to keep his place because he loves football.”
Delph managed just eight Premier League appearances last term, including two starts.
The former England international’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season.
