Benitez tipped to win over Everton fans as ‘exciting’ Insigne plan revealed – pundit
Kevin Phillips has insisted Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne would be a “really good signing” for Everton this summer.
The European Golden Shoe winner, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old would “ignite excitement” at Goodison Park.
Italian journalist Luca Marchetti, speaking to Sky Italia and quoted by the Sun last week (August 12th), claims Everton have joined the race to sign Insigne.

Inter Milan and Zenit St Petersburg are also said to be in the hunt for the Italian.
Insigne worked under Rafa Benitez at Napoli from 2013 to 2015.
A move to Goodison would also mean a reunion with former Napoli midfielder Allan.
Phillips believes that Insigne would provide much-needed experience as Benitez looks to win over the sceptical Goodison faithful.
“I think they made some good moves last year with Allan and James Rodriguez,” he told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“This would be similar to those deals.
“He’d be coming full of confidence after the summer he’s had.
“He could be a really good signing.
“They’ve already got experience in Andros Townsend, and he would add even more to help guide younger players like Demerai Gray.
“Everton fans will get behind Benitez and his signings so far, but I think this deal would really ignite excitement around Goodison.”
Insigne was an integral part of the triumphant Italy side at Euro 2020, scoring twice in six games.

The 5ft 4inch winger has just ten months remaining on his contract at Napoli, having spent his whole career with the club.
The Naples-born forward scored a career-high 19 league goals for the club last term as they finished fifth.
