Benjaimin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres update: Arsenal’s priority striker signing revealed
Benjamin Sesko remains the priority striker target at Arsenal as the summer transfer window re-opens, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gunners have been widely linked with both RB Leipzig star Sesko, 22, and Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres, 27, so far this summer.
It is believed the saga will run deep into the summer as Arsenal look to get the best value for money in the market.
Gyokeres is still expected to leave Sporting this summer despite a new fall-out with the club over renegotiation on his valuation – with Man United also keen to bring him to England.
Sesko still top of Arsenal list as Gyokeres saga takes new twist
Arsenal have the edge over United in negotiations with the Sweden international – but sources say their priority target is Sesko, who is the younger option and plays in a stronger league.
A successful swoop for the Slovenia international could leave United with a free run at Gyokeres, who is confident he will be allowed to leave Sporting.
Gyokeres’ original price tag had been set at around £60million – but it has been widely reported that Sporting are now asking for his £85million release clause to be met.

He scored 54 goals and notched 13 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions last term and is under contract until 2027.
Meanwhile, Sesko hit 21 goals and notched six assists across 45 appearances in a disappointing season for RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old is under contract in Germany until June 2029 after penning a new deal last year.

Arsenal race rivals to sign Guehi
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (15 June) that Newcastle United and Arsenal are set to go head to head in their efforts to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
The England international wants to play regularly at the highest level, with a starting place under Thomas Tuchel at the 2026 World Cup at the front of his mind.
Guehi has just 12 months left to run on his contract with Crystal Palace – where he won the FA Cup as captain in the 2024-25 campaign.
