Benjamin Sesko sends ‘disappointed’ message after agent speaks on Arsenal move
Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko has admitted he’s “disappointed” with RB Leipzig’s defeat to Stuttgart amid links with a move to the Premier League giants.
The 21-year-old scored the opener in Leipzig’s 2-1 Bundesliga defeat to Stuttgart as the race for Champions League qualification heats up.
Sesko has been a long-term target for Mikel Arteta’s side, and according to the Daily Mail, the striker turned down a move in the summer of 2024 because he didn’t want to be a ‘second choice’ behind Kai Havertz.
Arsenal reportedly retain an interest in Sesko, but his agent, Elvis Basanovic, has shut down any talks of a loan move, telling GIVEMESPORT that he has had “no talks” regarding such a deal with the North London club.
Basanovic said: “I don’t know where this story has come from but I have never talked with Arsenal about a loan move for Sesko.
“Sesko is not a player for loans and this was never a topic with Arsenal or any other club. If you ask me if Sesko will move in January, I can only say Sesko is an RB Leipzig player and fully focused on that.”
Arsenal interested in Benjamin Sesko as attacking injuries pile up
Sesko has been a key player for Leipsiz so far this season, starting 23 of his 25 games across all competitions, scoring 13 goals, and providing three assists in his 1768 minutes of action.
With Gabriel Jesus out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in their FA Cup defeat to Man United earlier in January, Arteta has admitted he may look to enter the January market.
“We never just plan ‘a window’,” said Arteta after the 2-1 win over Tottenham. “We have a plan, we look at the squad, how we are going to evolve it, what we have in the academy, how we are going to change and adapt.
“From there, what you plan and the picture that we have… either we are really bad at planning or nobody could see we would have that many injuries. You have to adapt whatever the plan is.”
The striker took to Instagram to voice his frustrations regarding the defeat to Stuttgart, saying: “Disappointed with last evening’s result, working hard to keep scoring and get back to 3 points… we go together!“

Arsenal will host former manager Unai Emery and his Aston Villa side on Saturday (January 18) as they seek to gain further ground on league leaders Liverpool.
Arteta’s attention will then be on the Champions League as they prepare for a visit from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday (January 22).
