'You have to say...Massive' - Exclusive: Bent wowed by one Leeds player v Arsenal

Darren Bent has hailed the “massive” presence of Kalvin Phillips after Leeds United put Arsenal to the sword on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England striker named the midfielder, 24, as key to the team totally dominating Arsenal.

Leeds were immensely unfortunate not to run out emphatic winners in the 0-0 after racking up 24 goal attempts and hitting the woodwork three times.

Phillips played the full 90 minutes of the Elland Road clash after missing the previous three matches with a shoulder injury.

Asked how important Phillips’ return to the starting XI is for Leeds, Bent told Football Insider: “He could be the answer, he’s very, very good. We’re big fans of him.

“Obviously, he does tread that line a little bit when it comes to challenges and stuff, but he’s obviously got that little bit of bite about him.

“He’s vital to Leeds, he gives that back four a little bit of protection, he takes the ball in tight areas, he gets the ball from the centre-backs.

“He is that kind of link between the more advanced players and the backline so having him back – and also his presence on the pitch – I think Leeds look a lot more assured when he’s on the pitch as well.

“You have to say, getting him back is a massive, massive boost.”

Phillips has started six of Leeds’ nine Premier League matches this season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side ended the weekend 14th in the table with 11 points and three wins so far.

In other news, Leeds United have been tipped to sign a new striker in January amid “100 per cent hurting” Patrick Bamford claim.
