Bernardo Silva set for Man City showdown talks as replacement lined up – sources

Bernardo Silva will assess his Man City future at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

The 30-year-old midfield star will enter the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium in June.

City’s last chance to cash in on the midfielder will come in the summer transfer window – unless they can persuade him to sign yet another extension.

Silva has struggled to make Pep Guardiola’s side his home despite joining them from Monaco almost eight years ago.

Man City could cash in on Silva as talks scheduled

He has been long linked with a potential return to the continent and discussions will be held between club and player in the off-season about making that move happen.

City kickstarted their rebuild in January by shipping out Kyle Walker and adding four new young faces in Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Kevin De Bruyne is also out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in June and has been widely linked with an exit.

Silva, who has won six league titles in England, has made 33 appearances across all competitions for City this season.

He has hit three goals and notched four assists in those outings, which have included 28 starts.

Man City eye Hernandez & Cambiaso deals

Man City are also keen to add a new full-back as part of their rebuild, which is set to continue in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (8 February) that AC Milan star Theo Hernandez and Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso are both targets for City.

Cambiaso was Man City’s top target in the final week of the January transfer window, but Juventus held out for a £60million fee.

Guardiola’s side may be in fifth and 15 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool but they are still active in the Champions League and FA Cup.
