By John Reid
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his belief that the Hoops left-back Kieran Tierney is amongst the best in his position in the United Kingdom.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the Celtic boss said “I’ve worked with who I consider to be the two best full-backs in Britain – Danny Rose at Watford and Ryan Bertrand at Chelsea”.
“Kieran is right up there with those boys.”
Despite his fulsome praise for the 20 year old, Rodgers admits that the player is not the finished article yet.
“He’s still very young, still got bits of improvement to make, but his quality, will, determination and focus is outstanding”.

Tierney was superb in Celtic’s narrow 2-1 Champions League Group Stage defeat to Bayern Munich at Celtic Park last night.
He was a constant attacking threat and kept up with his defensive duties as well.
Tierney has reportedly attracted interested from a host of Premier League clubs, with up to 17 of them reported to be scouting both he and his team-mate Moussa Dembele in action last night.
The young left-back just signed a new six year deal at Celtic this week however, so Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that he can keep him at Celtic Park for a while yet.
The next big test for Tierney will be Celtic’s Champions League trip to the Parc des Princes in three weeks time, where he will come up against a PSG side which is currently running rampant in both domestic and European football.
