Danny Mills hailed the “fabulous” Said Benrahma as West Ham look to sign the Brentford attacker before the domestic window shuts on Friday.
The former Leeds and Manchester City defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 25-year-old offers more than just the “X factor” that Felipe Anderson and Dimitri Payet possessed.
Sky Sports claim that the Irons are close to agreeing a deal to sign the Algerian winger with the clubs in advanced talks over potential £30million transfer.
His 46 appearances in the Championship last season yielded an impressive 17 goals and 10 assists as Brentford narrowly missed out on promotion through the play-offs.
Benrahma, who has two years remaining on his contract at Brentford, has been identified as the player to replace Anderson, who joined FC Porto on loan on Monday.
When asked by Football insider if the Algeria international would be a welcome addition at the London Stadium, Mills said:
“Felipe Anderson, Dimitri Payet had the X Factor but the extra thing you get with Benrahma is hard work. He possesses fabulous ability but he is also a team player.
“That is vital to being part of Moyes’s squad. That is first and foremost. Forget how good you are, you have to be a team player and work hard within that.
“David Moyes is building his kind of team. A solid, hard working, difficult to beat side with a smatter of quality in their as well. That is what Moyes has been renowned for for most of his career.”
