Newcastle United are favourites to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings in the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

BetVictor have the Magpies priced at 5/1 to land Ings, 25, by the end of January after the Liverpool Echo reported that the Tyneside giants have contacted Anfield over a potential bid to sign him.

West Ham are also understood to have reached out to Liverpool and are priced as the 6/1 second favourites.

Derby (8/1) and Bournemouth (8/1) are also thought to be in the running to sign Ings next month, however it is Newcastle who appear to be in pole position with the transfer window just over a week away from opening.

Liverpool are expected to offload a number of players next month and the former Burnley striker could be one of them after making just 14 first-team appearances in over two years at Anfield.

The Daily Mail has reported that the injury-hit forward could be one of five to be shown the door at Liverpool in January and that Newcastle are ready to make a move for him.

Ings has made just three appearances in the Liverpool senior side this season, including two in the Premier League.

Newcastle already have three strikers on their books in Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

In other Newcastle United news, the Magpies have agreed a deal to sign this Brazilian defender in January.
