Betting latest: Tottenham in running to sign 24-year-old PSG ace

By Harvey Byrne

Tottenham are in the running to sign Paris Saint-Germain ace Serge Aurier this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Sky Bet have priced the north London club as 3/1 second favourites to land the 24-year-old right-back before the September transfer deadline.

Only Manchester United boast better odds at 5/2, while Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus trail closely behind Spurs at 5/1 and 8/1 respectively.

Aurier has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer with right-back star Kyle Walker leaving the club for cash-rich side Manchester City earlier in the window.

ESPN even went as far as to report that Spurs were one of the frontrunners for his signature with PSG looking for a figure somewhere in between £18million and £22million.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have not yet delved into the 2017 summer market.

But, with the sale of Walker a new right-back could be at the top of the club’s target list with just Kieran Trippier and rookie Kyle Walker-Peters remaining.

Aurier himself has been a part of the PSG team since moving in the summer of 2014 on an initial loan deal from FC Toulouse.

He has since competed in 81 matches for the club, winning two Ligue 1 titles as well as being capped 39 times for the Ivory Coast, who he won the Africa Cup of Nations with in 2015.

Aurier also has two years remaining on his contract at the French capital club, meaning his value could even drop soon.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Mauricio Pochettino has sent a message to the fans regarding the club’s summer business.
