West Ham are the huge favourites to sign Swansea defender Alfie Mawson during the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
However the Sun has since reported that Swansea value the former Barnsley centre-back at a whopping £40million, double what Moyes was expecting to pay.
Crystal Palace (8/1) and Everton (8/1) are also seen to be in the running to snap up Mawson at some point this month, however out of the three frontrunners, it does not appear that any of them would be willing to shelve £40million for the centre-back.
Mawson has proven himself key to the Swans first-team this season and there’s no doubt that Carlos Carvahal will want to keep him around as the Welsh side look to keep clear of relegation.
The defensive powerhouse, who is known for his commanding physical presence and aerial ability, has played every minute of every Premier League game this season.
In total, the former England Under-21 international has made 25 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring two goals in the process which came against Reading and Leicester.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are also clear favourites to sign this England international.
